Year 9 Vaccinations

All children in Year 9 at school are offered Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (DTP) and Meningitis (ACWY) Vaccinations.

Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio is the teenage booster vaccine, also known as the 3-in-1 or the Td/IPV vaccine. It is given to boost protection against 3 separate diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and polio. More information can be found 3-in-1 teenage booster overview – NHS (www.nhs.uk).

Meningitis ACWY is a vaccine that protects against Meningococcal groups A, C, W and Y, this can cause inflammation of the brain and Septicaemia (blood poisoning). The vaccine is being offered in response to a rapid increase in cases of Meningococcal disease group W, an aggressive strain more prevalent in teenagers. MenACWY vaccine – NHS (www.nhs.uk).

The School Age Vaccination Team will be in School on Wednesday 5th June to carry out these vaccinations
